We recently celebrated a private birthday dinner for my husband at Emberwood Manor, and it was nothing short of magical. The entire evening was thoughtfully curated by Chef Brett Wagner and hosted to perfection by Savanna Wagner—a duo whose passion and talent shine in every detail. From the moment we arrived, the warm ambiance of the manor set the tone for an intimate, joyful celebration. The beautifully restored bed and breakfast provided the perfect backdrop; and with a couple of our guests staying overnight, it allowed everyone to relax and savor the evening without worry.
The dining experience itself was exquisite. Chef Brett’s menu was a masterpiece of amazing flavor combinations and stunning presentation. Each course was introduced with warmth and enthusiasm, and he took the time to explain ingredients and techniques, happily answering our many questions with patience and charm. One of the unique highlights was the dining table being located in the same room as the kitchen, letting us watch the artistry unfold as each dish came together. It was like dinner and a show, and it brought an exciting level of connection to the food and the Chef preparing it.
We had the pleasure of bringing our own wines and bourbon, guided by Chef Brett’s expert pairing suggestions, which elevated the whole experience. From start to finish, he worked closely with us to design a menu that reflected our tastes and wishes. The results exceeded every expectation. Perhaps the most surprising delight was how even our teenage “chicken nugget crew” got swept up in the fun—trying new dishes, asking questions, and genuinely enjoying the elevated tasting menu filled with unique flavors and seasonal, local ingredients. That’s a true testament to Chef Brett’s creativity and approachability. Savanna’s personable, attentive service made the evening feel effortless. Every guest felt welcome and cared for, and the entire experience felt tailored just for us.

As seasoned travelers, we’ve searched the world over for a kid-friendly vacation destination where you don’t sacrifice culinary excellence. There is something magical about this place… the quiet peace… the sunsets… the food… but really, THE FOOD. It is worth traveling for. Brett and Savanna were born to host; they are so friendly and accommodating. You can tell that they put their heart into every part of the manor. We had plans to go into town, but we were having such a good time on the property, we didn’t leave all weekend!
